The bible tells us a lot about the love God has for us his own. We see it as we study scriptures, we see a different kind of love, the kind of love that causes a man to give his life for a friend. Sometime last year, I found new meaning in trying to understand the depth of God’s love for man for me especially. I found meaning in a very popular verse of the scripture.
In Jeremiah 31 vs 3 (NIV), God was talking to the remnant in Israel, He said He met them while they were searching for him and that he loved them with an everlasting love.
I found my meaning though reading this verse using a different translation and my meaning came so strongly. God told them,
"I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!" (Msg).
Before reading this scripture, I had read a lot of bible verses about God’s love, but this verse showed me a new depth, it was more than the repetition of the word “love”. I saw God searching for a people, finding them, reminding them retrospectively of a love that always existed and then confirming the same love that will exist eternally. And then I saw me, how God sent his son to die for me. I felt the thoughtfulness in His actions. He loved me retrospectively- before I was born. He loves me even now- even when I fall and He will love me, endlessly, recklessly and overwhelmingly- I am assured. This verse of the bible speaks volumes to my heart, I like to think that men are fallible and thus, I try not to get my expectations too high, but God says to me, “Expect”… Seeing this took me to a new level, I know God loves me and I expect this love, I know he loved me as a sinner as while we were still sinners, he sent his son to die for us. I know he loves me even now, as I through his grace become like Him as He wants us to be Holy as he is.
There are so many words I could use to describe God kind of love. The love that is ageless, the love that does no evil, the love that forgives and shows mercy- unmerited mercy, the love that listens, the love that says to all men, “come unto me, all he that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”, the love that has no boundaries, the love that has no measurement, its depths can never be known, its strength conquers all fear… BOUNDLESS LOVE. The bible says there is no fear in love, perfect love casts away all fear (all doubt), and I know that the love God has for men is Perfect.
This is the tip of my love story, it’s personal and general. It shows God’s BOUNDLESS LOVE for me and of course, for all of us. Do me a favor, share a scripture on God’s love as we count down to our Valentine Splash (13th and 14th of February) at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). Shed light as you spread the story of The God kind of love, drop a comment and let’s show the world this never-ending, never-changing BOUNDLESS LOVE.
